Epsilon Open Challenge 2011

Introduction
Epsilon Open Challenge is a coding competition designed to engage computer science students in Ho Chi Minh City in both algorithmic and practical programming.

Organizers
The contest is administered and hosted by Epsilon Mobile Pte. Ltd. The problem set is designed by Epsilon and the advisors.
The board of advisors includes:
a. Mr Hua Phan Minh Hieu, chairman of BKIT Mobile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
b. Mr Le Dinh Thuan, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Participants
The contest is open to all computer science students who are currently enrolling in universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Participants are required to register online at www.epsilon-mobile.com/challenge . Selected participants will receive letters of invitation from the Organizer.

The Problem Set
Each contestant will have one account of the contest’s website for submission. The problem set consists of three sections:
1. Algorithm: this section consists of several problems. After solving one problem, contestants will receive a password. Contestant needs to submit this password to the website to retrieve the next problem. Contestants can use any programming languages for this section.
2. Application: contestants are supposed to develop a runable application based on the given scenario. Contestants can use any programming languages or technologies for this section.
3. Processing: contestants will be provided tutorials of a new programming language, and are supposed to develop a demonstration.

Prizes
The contestant with the highest score is the Winner, and is entitled to receive one iPod Shuffle. In the event of a tie between two or more contestants, the Organizer will evaluate the coding style as well as the time of the submissions in order to decide the Winner. The Organizer’s decision is ultimate.
The result of the contest will be published by July 16th 2011.
All selected participants will receive Epsilon T-Shirts. Beverage and lunch will be provided for all contestants.

Time: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sunday, July 10th 2011
Venue: Moc Tra Quan, 339/18 To Hien Thanh, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City

Miscellaneous
- Contests are to bring their own lap tops and chargers.
- Participating in the contest constitutes permission for, and contestant's consent to, Epsilon and its agencies to use a contestant's name and/or likeness and submission for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation, unless prohibited by law.
- To the extent permitted by law, contestants agree to hold Epsilon, its subsidiaries and affiliates and their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, and the advisors harmless for any injury or damage caused or claimed to be caused by participation in the contest and/or use or acceptance of any prize won.

Do số lượng các bạn đăng kí tham gia vượt quá dự định ban đầu của BTC, nên cuộc thi sẽ được chuyển địa điểm sang OVI cafe, Nguyễn Giản Thanh, quận 10 (gần siêu thị Big C trên đường Tô Hiến Thành).

Cuộc thi sẽ diễn ra từ 9am tới 5pm ngày chủ nhật này (10/07/2011). Từ 5pm tới 7pm, các bạn thí sinh sẽ thuyết trình về sản phẩm mà mình làm được, và trả lời câu hỏi từ ban giám khảo. Khán giả sẽ tham gia cho điểm các thí sinh bằng cách nhắn tin SMS bầu chọn thí sinh nổi bật nhất tới 8027, với cú pháp vg eoc [contestant’s username] Thân mời mọi người đến Ovi Cafe từ 5pm tới 7pm ngày mai để xem và cổ vũ cho các thí sinh ^_____^
